  17. I put one of those hard drive sleeper programs on my hard disk last year.
  18. Since then my hard drive has become very ill.  The problem was probably that
  19. my desk was in front of a large window, that got lots of sun in the summer; 
  20. no doubt my computer got hot in the sun and the hard drive couldn't keep cool.

  22. The funny thing is the hard drive now beeps alot at power up; and I never 
  23. even realised it could make beepy noises.

  25. Also my hard drive often seems to crash during access; from which it, and the 
  26. Amiga, seems to recover remarkably well.  Sometimes it struggles and then 
  27. appears to do a full shut-down and power-up of the hard drive, complete with 
  28. beeps.

  30. So, the lesson is don't leave your hard drive in the sun, with the fan 
  31. powered down.
