-
- I put one of those hard drive sleeper programs on my hard disk last year.
- Since then my hard drive has become very ill. The problem was probably that
- my desk was in front of a large window, that got lots of sun in the summer;
- no doubt my computer got hot in the sun and the hard drive couldn't keep cool.
-
- The funny thing is the hard drive now beeps alot at power up; and I never
- even realised it could make beepy noises.
-
- Also my hard drive often seems to crash during access; from which it, and the
- Amiga, seems to recover remarkably well. Sometimes it struggles and then
- appears to do a full shut-down and power-up of the hard drive, complete with
- beeps.
-
- So, the lesson is don't leave your hard drive in the sun, with the fan
- powered down.
